Spring Awakening

This painting is an intimate look at early spring in Northern Ontario, developed from a photograph I took on-site. I wanted to capture that exact, mellow window of time when winter recedes but the forest has not yet fully bloomed. The background uses soft lighting with pale greens and blues to contrast the sharp realism of the foreground. The central white waterfall carries the seasonal meltwater over ancient, dark Shield rocks, creating a peaceful yet powerful scene of renewal.
