This painting is from a trip down Long Lake at a place called the Narrows. The lake narrows towards the end of the last bay on the lake and this is where the idea for this painting developed. I focused on the textures and details of the foreground rock formations, allowing the distant birch trees and evergreens to soften into the background.
Autumn is such a colourful and beautiful time of year here and I really enjoy being out on the lake looking for painting ideas.
